Week 6: Logic and Reasoning

After this week, you should…

  • understand how to identify invalid inference rules (Denying the Antecedant, Affirming the Consequent, Affirming a Disjunct).
  • identify simple Boolean equivalences (e.g., De Morgan’s Law)
  • discuss some experiments about human reasoning and logic, such as the Wason Seleciton Task.
  • come up with examples that demonstrate a mismatch between arguments involving conditionals in English and argumets involving conditionals in propositional logic.
