Welcome to PHIL 171!

In this session, we will welcome you to the course and the semester ahead. After this week, you should…

  • understand the structure of the course, including what will be required of you each week and how you will be graded.
  • be able to define and use the following notions: declarative sentence, proposition, premise/conclusion of an argument.
  • explain the difference between “follows from” and “infers”.
  • understand and be able to use the following notation: The symbol “\(\Rightarrow\)”: \(X, Y\Rightarrow Z\).
